Northwell Health has launched an alumni network that is designed to connect thousands of former employees who left the health system in good standing. We are the first healthcare provider to launch an alumni network for all team members in good standing.
A new alumni website is now online so that those who have retired or moved on to new career opportunities can network and mentor others. On this platform, alumni can access resources and stay informed about upcoming events and even some discounts.
“Our alumni have made important contributions not only to Northwell, but to the health and wellbeing of thousands of people, and they should be proud of that,” Michael Dowling, Northwell’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “They will always be part of Northwell’s story, and we want to help support our alumni’s continued growth and success.”
Maxine Carrington, senior vice president and chief people officer at Northwell, was instrumental to the network’s launch. Northwell has since reached out to over 20,000 former team members to take part in the online network.
“To us, our alumni are teammates for life. They will always be part of Northwell,” Ms. Carrington said. “Our vision in creating Alumni Relations is to create a community of belonging which continues for a lifetime.”
The network will also help Northwell stay in touch with retirees who still want to contribute to the health system. They will be able to work one or two days a week, or on specific projects. And they will bring their wealth of knowledge of healthcare and the health system with them.
There are also opportunities for volunteering around the community that the network provides. Many of Northwell’s former team members are still residents in the communities Northwell serves, and patients of its facilities. Allowing them to stay engaged and participate in Northwell’s outreach helps the communities they live in.
The network was announced last week at a special event in the health system’s New Hyde Park headquarters
